Empty streets in Edinburgh as the city’s traditional Hogmanay celebrations are cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The city’s New Year’s Eve events are world famous and recognised by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest New Years party. In recent years, 40,000 people took part in the Torchlight Procession, 75,000 people attended the Concert in the Gardens with an estimated 100,000 watching the midnight fireworks display. 2020 has seen the Scottish Government tell the public to celebrate Hogmanay and the New Year with only their own household and the city has only online events planned.
